Do You Need a Car in Schoinoussa?

Many visitors can enjoy Schoinoussa without a car.

Walking is one of the best ways to experience the island, particularly if you stay around Chora or Tsigouri. Several beaches and settlements are within realistic walking distance.

The main issue during summer is not distance but heat. Walking that feels easy in the morning can be considerably less appealing in the middle of a hot afternoon.

If you intend to explore extensively, plan longer walks for earlier or later in the day.

How Long Should You Stay in Schoinoussa?

Two or three nights is enough to experience the basic character of Schoinoussa, but a longer stay makes more sense if the reason you’re visiting is precisely because there isn’t much you have to do.

With four or five days, you can visit different beaches, explore on foot, take a boat trip and spend long lunches and evenings without turning the island into a checklist.

That slower approach is where Schoinoussa works best.
