Pserimos is a small island where visitors can swim in crystal-clear waters and enjoy the peaceful sceneries. The island also has traditional villages that are worth exploring.
Located half way between Kos and Kalymnos, Pserimos is an untouched paradise of tranquility. It is reached by ferries from Kos and Kalymnos throughout the year.
1. Cafe O Filakias
Despite its tiny size and minuscule population, Pserimos is one of the most picturesque island in the Dodecanese. A short ferry ride from Kos and Kalymnos, the island is ideal for a relaxing and tranquil holiday. Known as Kappari (Capers), it is also popular among rock climbers and has a number of tavernas and cafes.
Most of the island is characterized by its wild natural landscape, ramshackle houses and practically nonexistent streets. The residents consist of shepherds, farmers and pensioners who live off the island year round. They are a proud people, but they know that their beautiful little island will not survive without tourism.
They are aware that they must offer a quality service to visitors if they want to make their business successful and keep tourists coming back. This is the main reason why they try to provide as much comfort and convenience as possible to their guests. This is why they are always willing to help their guests and offer them all the information that is necessary.
There are several reasons why Café O Filakias is considered to be one of the best places to eat in Pserimos. First of all, they serve a wide range of dishes and drinks, including coffee, fresh juices, salads, pastries and even cocktails. Moreover, their dishes are extremely tasty and their prices are affordable as well.
Aside from offering delicious meals and refreshing drinks, this cafe is also a great place to meet friends and have fun. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing, making it a perfect place to spend your day.
Another place that you should definitely visit when you are in Pserimos is Doukato. This restaurant is located in a quiet courtyard and it offers traditional Greek and Naxos dishes. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. The restaurant is usually busy, especially during the summer, so you should make a reservation in advance.
The owners of Doukato are very passionate about their business and they strive to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere for their guests. They also take pride in the fact that their food is prepared with fresh ingredients and they use local produce whenever possible. Moreover, the owner of this restaurant grows his own vegetables and raises his own sheep and goats for milk and cheese.
2. Ioulis House
Located right in the heart of Ioulida Ioulis House has a lot going for it. It’s a nice place to meet up with friends and they also serve breakfast in the morning. You can get a wide variety of salads, snacks and entrees here and their deserts are delicious. They have a nice wine list and a selection of cocktails too. They are a bit more pricey than most of the restaurants on Kea but I think they are worth it.
The restaurant is owned by Mandy and a couple of her friends and they are wonderful hosts. She has a great sense of humor and she is very knowledgable about wines and spirits as well. You can try out her recommendations or just ask her for suggestions based on your taste. I would suggest trying their kolokithia keftedes (fried zucchini balls) or the tirokafteri (spicy cheese spread) made with real jalapeno peppers. Their seafood risotto is excellent as well.
Ioulis House is also a coffee shop and they serve good coffee, cakes and pastries. They have a great selection of souvenirs as well. Whether you are looking for a gift or just want to buy a little something for yourself, they have it all.
The beach on Pserimos is a mixture of sandy and pebble beaches, crystal clear water, and mountain landscapes. It is a beautiful location, but some of the beaches may not be accessible for everyone, especially if you have limited mobility or are traveling with small children.
In addition to its beautiful beaches, the island of Pserimos is a popular destination for hikers and cyclists. You can rent bikes from various locations on the island. The island is also home to several historical sites. Visiting these sites is a great way to learn more about the history of the island and to see its natural beauty. The best way to explore the island is on foot, but you can also take a bike ride to get around the different areas. The island also offers a number of restaurants and bars where you can enjoy the local cuisine.
3. Manolas Taverna
This sizable taverna is located right on the beautiful beach of Maragas. It has been run by the same family since 1973 and is known for its excellent kitchen. It serves a variety of local Greek dishes, as well as grilled meats and fresh seafood. The restaurant has a terrace that overlooks the sea and offers great views of the surrounding islands. It also offers Naxos wine and tap beer. The owner of the taverna raises his own animals, produces his own cheese and olive oil, and catches many of the fish he serves.
This taverna is one of the most popular in the island and has been visited by many celebrities. It offers a wide variety of dishes including grilled octopus, fried calamari, and seafood risotto. Its desserts are also very good, and the owners are friendly with their customers. They speak several languages and serve delicious Greek coffee.
In addition to its beaches, Pserimos also has many ruins, shipwrecks, and beautiful villages. The island is a hidden gem that hasn’t been overdeveloped, but it still has a peaceful and laid back atmosphere. The island is a short boat ride away from Kos and Kalymnos. Its crystal clear waters and unharmed landscapes are what attracts visitors.
The only town on the island is Avlakia, which is home to the single supermarket, rooms for rent, and taverns. It is also where most of the restaurants are located. The most famous tavern in Avlakia is Manolas Taverna, which has been visited by a number of celebrities.
There are also several tavernas in the mountain village of Old Alonnisos, which offer fantastic views of the island and the sea. The taverns in this area have been family owned for generations and serve traditional Greek food. They also offer a variety of wines and spirits.
Pserimos is a small, isolated island that is the perfect place for anyone looking for peace and tranquility. The island has a small population and is only a few hours away from Kos and Kalymnos. While there are no direct ferries to the island, it is worth visiting for its pristine beaches and peaceful atmosphere.
4. Piatsa Restaurant
Amid a handful of scattered holiday houses and farmsteads along the northern shoreline, this village taverna offers the best dining on the island. Its deli is a treasure chest of rose-scented loukoumi (Turkish delight), briny caper leaves, and nutty San Michali cheese.
A trio of windmills, a rocktop chapel (for the island’s most spectacular sunsets), and an open-air parlour like this one adorn Piatsa, which stands high above Serifos port. The crisp, arid Aegean light emphasizes every outline and shadow. Stripped of humidity, the air feels smoky and pure. It is a place to linger, and to breathe. Amid the silence, the sea breeze blows.
