After a period of disuse, Skorpios has reopened and is under new ownership. In April 2013, the trust of Ekaterina Rybolovleva, daughter of Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovleva, bought the tiny island and its neighboring islet, Sparti. The family intends to turn it into a luxury resort catering to the international elite.
