Where to Stay in Pserimos: Accommodation & Overnight Guide
Most visitors to Pserimos never need to ask where to stay.
They arrive by boat from Kos or Kalymnos, spend a few hours swimming and eating beside the harbour, and leave again in the afternoon.
But staying overnight is one of the best ways to experience this tiny Dodecanese island.
Once the excursion boats depart, Pserimos becomes remarkably quiet. Avlakia Beach empties, the waterfront settles down and you get to experience the island as somewhere people actually live rather than simply as a stop on a day cruise.
There is one important thing to understand before booking:
Pserimos has very little accommodation.
This isn’t an island with competing resorts, hotel districts or dozens of apartments. Current major booking platforms show only a handful of properties actually located on Pserimos, with many of the other search results being accommodation back on Kos.
For travellers who appreciate simplicity, that’s part of the appeal.

There isn’t really a question of which village to stay in.
Pserimos has only one settlement of consequence for visitors: Avlakia.
Why Stay in Avlakia?
Avlakia is the obvious place to stay because almost everything you’ll need is concentrated around its bay.
Here you’ll find:
the port
Avlakia Beach
the island’s tavernas
small shops
most accommodation
That means you don’t need a rental car, bus timetable or taxi.
You arrive by boat, walk to your accommodation and essentially begin your holiday immediately.
The main sandy beach is directly in front of the settlement.
For a tiny island, that’s difficult to beat.
1. Nammos Sunset
Best for: Staying directly beside the beach
Nammos Sunset is probably the most obvious accommodation choice for a first overnight stay on Pserimos.
Current accommodation listings place it directly beside the beach in the small settlement, with sea views available from the property. It has accumulated more than 200 guest reviews and currently scores above 9/10 on Booking.com.
The accommodation is apartment-style rather than a conventional full-service resort.
And that’s exactly what I’d expect on Pserimos.
Its biggest advantage is simply location.
You can wake up beside the sea, walk onto the beach and have the tavernas of Avlakia nearby.
Who would I recommend it for?
Couples, solo travellers and anyone spending one or two nights on Pserimos.
For a first visit, this would be one of the properties I’d investigate first.
2. Pserimos Villas
Best for: More space and a longer stay
Pserimos Villas provides a different style of accommodation.
Current listings describe it as seafront accommodation with private entrances, a garden and Wi-Fi, making it more suitable for travellers who want some independence rather than simply a room for the night.
It also has more than 100 guest reviews and currently receives ratings above 9/10.
I’d look particularly closely at this option for:
families
couples staying several nights
travellers wanting self-catering facilities
people who value extra space
A villa or apartment becomes much more attractive if you’re staying three or four nights rather than simply sleeping on Pserimos once.
3. Stelios House in Pserimos
Best for: Privacy and an independent stay
Another current option is Stelios House in Pserimos.
It’s a renovated beachfront holiday home with a terrace and Wi-Fi rather than a traditional hotel room.
This makes it potentially interesting for travellers who want Pserimos to feel less like a hotel holiday and more like temporarily living on the island.
The trade-off is that properties of this type have extremely limited inventory.
There is only one house rather than dozens of rooms.
That’s something we’ll see repeatedly with Pserimos accommodation:
availability matters more than having an enormous choice.
Are There Hotels in Pserimos?
Not in the conventional sense most travellers imagine.
Don’t expect a reception lobby, swimming pool, spa, buffet breakfast and dozens of rooms.
Pserimos accommodation is primarily small-scale rooms, apartments, villas and holiday homes.
Current accommodation searches illustrate just how limited the inventory is.
If resort facilities are important to you, stay on Kos and visit Pserimos as a day trip.
If the idea of a simple room beside a tiny Greek island beach appeals to you, staying here makes much more sense.
Is It Worth Staying Overnight in Pserimos?
I think this is actually the most important question on the page.
Yes — for the right traveller.
The strongest argument for staying isn’t the accommodation.
It’s what happens after everyone else leaves.
During the day, excursion boats can bring substantial numbers of visitors into Avlakia.
Later, those boats return to Kos and Kalymnos.
Suddenly you’re staying on a tiny island with very few people around.
That’s something a day trip can’t reproduce.
How Many Nights Should You Stay?
I’d recommend:
1 night — enough to experience Pserimos after the day-trippers leave.
2 nights — my preferred first visit.
3–4 nights — excellent if you genuinely enjoy swimming, walking and doing very little.
1 week — only for travellers deliberately looking for an extremely quiet holiday.
Two nights gives you one complete day when your schedule isn’t controlled by arriving or departing boats.
That makes a surprisingly big difference.
Should You Stay in Pserimos or Kalymnos?
These two islands offer very different experiences.
Stay in Pserimos if you want:
quiet
beaches
walking
few people
simple tavernas
no need for a car
a tiny-island experience
Stay in Kalymnos if you want:
more restaurants
more accommodation
shops and services
more sightseeing
easier transport
a larger base for exploring
There’s another possibility that I actually like more:
combine them.
Spend several nights on Kalymnos and then one or two nights on Pserimos.
That gives you the advantages of both islands without expecting Pserimos to provide services it simply doesn’t have.
Should You Stay in Pserimos or Kos?
This is an even greater contrast.
Kos has an airport, resorts, nightlife, archaeological attractions, organised beaches and a huge accommodation market.
Pserimos has essentially none of those things.
And that’s precisely why someone might choose it.
Choose Kos for:
a conventional Greek island holiday
resorts
nightlife
families wanting extensive facilities
longer holidays
large accommodation choice
Choose Pserimos for:
silence
simplicity
walking
swimming
a couple of slow days
escaping the crowds
Another excellent combination would be:
Kos → Pserimos → Kalymnos
for travellers island-hopping through the Dodecanese.
Is Pserimos Good for Couples?
Yes — particularly couples who don’t need entertainment organised for them.
There’s something inherently appealing about staying beside a small bay after the day visitors have disappeared.
Walk along the waterfront, swim, have dinner at a taverna and enjoy the quiet.
For couples who prefer nightlife and cocktail bars, Pserimos is probably too quiet.
For couples who deliberately seek small Greek islands, it could be exactly right.
Is Pserimos Good for Families?
Possibly, but I’d be more cautious.
Avlakia’s sandy beach and shallow water make the island attractive for children.
The problem is infrastructure.
As we covered in our Things to Do guide, Pserimos doesn’t offer the medical, shopping and transport infrastructure you’d find on Kos or Kalymnos.
For many families I’d therefore suggest:
day trip from Kos or Kalymnos
or
one or two nights on Pserimos as part of a longer trip.
Families accustomed to travelling on small Greek islands may feel differently.
Can You Stay in Pserimos Without a Car?
Absolutely.
In fact, that’s how I’d recommend visiting.
You don’t need to think about car rental at all.
Avlakia is tiny, and the island’s beaches and other destinations are explored primarily on foot or by boat.
This is one of the strongest arguments for Pserimos as part of an island-hopping itinerary.
You can arrive carrying your luggage, walk to your accommodation and forget about transport for a couple of days.
What Should You Check Before Booking?
Because Pserimos is so small, I’d pay more attention to practical details than I would when booking somewhere on Kos.
Check:
whether the property has air-conditioning
whether Wi-Fi is available
whether there’s a refrigerator or kitchenette
whether breakfast is included or available nearby
how payment is handled
your arrival and departure boat times
And most importantly:
confirm that the property is actually on Pserimos.
This sounds obvious, but accommodation search engines often show properties on neighbouring Kos when there are only a few available rooms on Pserimos itself. Current search results do exactly that once the small amount of Pserimos inventory is exhausted.
Book Early for Summer
This is one destination where I’d genuinely recommend booking early.
Not because Pserimos has thousands of visitors competing for hundreds of hotels.
The opposite.
There are very few rooms to begin with.
If three particular properties represent much of the easily bookable inventory, it doesn’t take many reservations before your choices disappear. Current accommodation searches demonstrate just how small that supply is.
This particularly matters during July and August.
Bring Cash and Essential Supplies
Don’t treat Pserimos like a resort destination where anything you’ve forgotten can easily be purchased.
Bring enough cash for your stay and don’t depend completely on card payments.
Bring any medication you require.
Bring sunscreen and other personal items.
If staying several nights in self-catering accommodation, consider what supplies you’ll need before arriving.
Part of the attraction of Pserimos is its lack of development.
That same lack of development means you need to be a little more prepared.
What Is It Like Waking Up in Pserimos?
This is ultimately what you’re paying for.
Not a swimming pool.
Not room service.
Not a five-star hotel lobby.
You’re paying for the opportunity to wake up on a tiny Dodecanese island before the excursion boats arrive.
Walk onto Avlakia Beach.
Go for an early swim.
Have coffee beside the harbour.
Then watch the island gradually become busier as the first boats appear.
In the afternoon, the process reverses.
That’s something you simply don’t experience during a four-hour excursion.
Where Would I Stay on My First Visit?
I’d stay in Avlakia as close to the beach as possible.
There’s little advantage in trying to find somewhere remote.
The island itself already provides isolation.
Being close to Avlakia gives you easy access to:
the beach,
the harbour,
restaurants,
boat connections
and walking routes.
Of the currently easy-to-find accommodation, Nammos Sunset would be the first place I’d investigate for a short stay, while Pserimos Villas becomes particularly interesting for a longer or more independent visit.
Final Thoughts
Choosing where to stay in Pserimos is refreshingly simple.
There aren’t ten resorts to compare.
There aren’t five neighbourhoods.
There isn’t a debate about whether you should stay near the old town or the beach.
Stay in Avlakia.
Choose one of the island’s small apartments, villas or holiday homes and accept that accommodation here is part of a much simpler type of holiday.
For most travellers, I’d recommend two nights.
That’s enough time to experience Pserimos after the day-trip boats disappear, spend a full day walking and swimming, and discover why staying on the island feels very different from merely visiting it.
