The best place to stay in Paros will depend on your kind of holiday. The island has a great selection of accommodation from family-run apartments to luxury resorts.

Naousa
Despite being one of the smaller villages on the island, Naoussa packs in plenty to keep you entertained. The gorgeous harbour is a hub of small Cycladic fishing boats, set against the backdrop of Venetian mansions and Orthodox churches, and the myriad of laneways play host to some of the best restaurants, bars and sunset spots on the island. And there are some amazing beaches within walking distance, too!

As for the beaches, there are two in walking distance of Naoussa – both framed by pretty headlands and with good swimming conditions. Piperi Beach is located at the end of the harbour, while Agioi Anargyroi can be found on the other side of the old chora, and both offer sun beds and umbrellas for a fee.
There’s also the imposing Church of Faneromeni, a Greek orthodox gem that can be seen from almost anywhere in the old town and which houses an impressive collection of pottery, frescoes, paintings and other religious artefacts. There’s plenty more to see, too, so make sure you give yourself time to explore!
Lefkes
The mountain village of Lefkes is a must-see on Paros. Although it isn’t as popular as the beaches and towns, this beautiful village is full of quaint streets and ancient sights. There is also a lot of hiking to be done here, so if you’re looking for an active vacation then you can definitely find it here.
The village is also home to a couple of old whitewashed windmills which make for an iconic picture in Greece. These are a great place to relax for a while and take in the beautiful scenery around you. Lefkes is also the host of the Feast of Karavolas at the end of August, which is a festival that celebrates the end of summer in traditional Greek style. The festival includes eating giant snails with garlic sauce, string beans, oven-baked chickpeas, and traditional cheeses. The festival ends with dancing and drinking until the early hours of the morning!
You can easily reach Lefkes by bus, but you should book your ticket in advance as buses fill up quickly during the peak season. Another option is to rent a car, which allows you the freedom and flexibility you need on your holiday. Just remember to book a rental car with a good insurance policy.
Lefkes was built inland as a protection from pirate raids, and this is still apparent today in its tiny, narrow streets. The Church of Agia Triada is one of the most impressive buildings in town, with its fine white marble shining brightly in the sunlight. Inside, you’ll see rare and valuable Byzantine icons. The village also boasts a few other countryside churches that add to the overall beauty of the area.

Chrissi Akti
