Liendou Beach

If you are looking for a castaway experience, Lipsi is the place to be. Only accessible by boat, this little island is a tranquil hideaway with a simple way of life that revolves around swimming in gin-clear waters, hiking to hilltop chapels and dining in traditional taverns.

Liendou Beach is just a few minutes from Lipsi village and it is perfect for swimming and relaxing. Its coarse sand slopes gently into the sea and you will find that it is usually quiet until the school children finish their day or when excursion boats from Patmos and Leros arrive.

For a beautiful sunrise experience, visit Tourkomnima and Hohlakora beaches. These east-facing beaches are perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying the stunning views of the shoreline. You can also visit the church of Kimissi tis Theotokou or take a walk along the paved path that leads to the ruins of the old castle of Lipsi.

Kampos Beach

The island of Lipsi may be small but it’s bursting with captivating sights. Start with the Ecclesiastical Museum in Lipsi Town to marvel at a collection of religious artifacts and icons that showcase the island’s deep-rooted spiritual heritage.

Then, wander the quaint cobbled streets of Lipsi Town to admire whitewashed houses adorned with shady bougainvillea and savour delicious seafood suppers in the island’s cosy tavernas. You can also explore inland along a network of thyme-scented paths that lead to a selection of historical points of interest.

One of the most beautiful beaches on the island is Kampos Beach, a sandy beach with shallow water and plenty of natural shade. Alternatively, head to Tourkomnima Beach, a north facing stony beach on a headland back to back with Kserokambos that’s usually deserted and offers some decent snorkeling.

Platis Gialos Beach

Platis Gialos Beach is a sandy beach situated at the northern end of the island. It’s protected from winds and a favorite for families. The water is crystal clear and the beach is lined with tamarisk trees and there’s a tavern here.

Just south of Platis Gialos is Tourkomnima Beach, also a pebble beach with clear waters. It’s quite lonely and there is a chapel across the beach that adds to the beauty of this area.

Another lovely beach on the east side of the island is Elena (Kimisi) Beach, a pretty bay of shingle and rock with a 16th century chapel that adds color to this dramatic setting. It’s an hour’s walk from Lipsi Town and shade is hard to come by on the rocky coastline.

Another great experience is to watch the sunrise on Lipsi. This is a magical experience as the sun reflects off of the sea and casts a beautiful light on the island.

Hoxlakoura Beach
