Ammouliani is a small island, but choosing where to stay can make a noticeable difference to your holiday.
Most accommodation falls into two broad choices: stay in or around Ammouliani village for restaurants, the ferry and convenience, or stay closer to the beaches for a quieter, more seaside-focused holiday.
There is considerably more accommodation than you might expect from an island of only around 4.5 square kilometres. Stay in Ammouliani village if you want convenience
The main village is the easiest base for visitors who want restaurants, cafés and everyday services close at hand. It is also where you arrive by ferry from Tripiti on the Halkidiki mainland.
Village accommodation is particularly attractive if you are visiting without your own vehicle. Instead of needing transport every evening, you can walk out for dinner and explore the settlement on foot.
The trade-off is that Ammouliani’s best-known sandy beaches are outside the centre.
Best for: first-time visitors, short stays, eating out, visitors without a car and travellers who like an evening stroll.
Stay near the beaches if swimming is the priority
If your ideal Ammouliani holiday involves spending most of the day beside the sea, accommodation outside the village can make more sense.
Areas around Alykes (also written Alikes) and other parts of the island provide accommodation closer to beaches and a quieter environment. The disadvantage is that you are further from the main concentration of restaurants and services.
A car, scooter or other transport therefore becomes more useful.
Best for: beach holidays, longer stays, families, couples seeking quiet and travellers with their own transport.

Archontiko Traditional Hotel – for traditional character

Best for: couples, traditional atmosphere and village convenience.
Ammouliani Hotel – convenient for the village and sea
Ammouliani Hotel is another practical village option.
The official island tourism directory describes the hotel as being inside the village and about 50 metres from the sea. It has 25 standard rooms plus five superior rooms and offers private parking. The property also reports accessible rooms and facilities for guests with mobility requirements.
That combination makes it worth considering if you want easy access to village life while still being very close to the waterfront.
Best for: convenience, short stays, sea views and travellers bringing a vehicle.
Niriides Hotel – a small hotel option
Niriides Hotel is another established hotel listed by Ammouliani’s official tourism organisation.
For travellers who prefer a conventional small hotel rather than an apartment or villa, it is one of several options worth comparing in the village accommodation market.

Demi Studios is particularly well located for visitors who regard the beach as the main reason for coming to Ammouliani.
The official island listing places the property on a hillside among olive trees a short distance from the Alykes beach area, between the bays of Alykes and Kalopigado. Rooms accommodate two to four people and include kitchen facilities, while parking is also available.

That location provides an appealing compromise: more space and privacy than a village hotel without being isolated from the settlement.

Camping in Ammouliani
Unlike many smaller Greek islands, Ammouliani has an organised campsite.
Alikes Camping – for tents, caravans and campers
Alikes Camping is located by the Alykes beach area and is officially classified as camping accommodation by Ammouliani’s tourism organisation.
The campsite reports 105 pitches for caravans and tents, with shade, electricity infrastructure, hot water, washing facilities, toilets and showers. There is also beach access, a mini-market and food facilities. Its published operating season is from 1 May until late September, although travellers should confirm current dates directly before travelling.
This is particularly important for anyone travelling through Greece with camping equipment or a caravan because Ammouliani is not limited to hotels and holiday apartments.
Best for: camping, caravans, beach holidays and budget-conscious longer stays.
We would not recommend informal camping on beaches or elsewhere outside an authorised campsite.
Where to Stay in Ammouliani Without a Car
If you don’t have a car or scooter, I would generally favour Ammouliani village.
The island is small, but staying near the ferry arrival, restaurants and everyday services removes the need to arrange transport every time you want dinner or supplies.
A beach-focused property can still work without a car, but you should check transport arrangements carefully before booking rather than assuming everything will be easily walkable.
For a first visit without a vehicle, the village is the safer and more flexible choice.
Where to Stay in Ammouliani With a Car
Having a vehicle opens up considerably more of the accommodation market.
You can stay near Alykes or in quieter parts of the island without worrying as much about returning to the village for restaurants and supplies. Villas and more secluded accommodation also become much more practical.
A vehicle is therefore useful rather than essential for Ammouliani: village-based visitors can have a perfectly good holiday without one, while travellers wanting to explore different beaches and stay outside the settlement gain considerably more flexibility from having transport.
Best Accommodation for Families
Families should look particularly closely at apartments, studios and villas rather than automatically booking hotel rooms.
Kitchen facilities can be useful for breakfast and simple meals, while a separate living space becomes increasingly valuable on a longer stay.
Demi Studios is particularly interesting for families wanting to be near Alykes, while Sunrise Villas provides more privacy and space. Ammouliani’s official directory contains numerous additional apartment, room and villa properties, so families have substantially more choice than the island’s small size might suggest.
Best Accommodation for Couples
Couples have perhaps the widest choice.
For a traditional village atmosphere, consider a smaller hotel or guesthouse such as Archontiko or Helianthus.
For sea views and conventional hotel facilities, Sunrise is an obvious property to compare.
For privacy and self-catering, one of the island’s villas can be more appealing, particularly for a longer stay.
The right choice depends less on finding the supposedly “best hotel” and more on deciding whether you want village evenings, beach access, sea views or privacy.
How Many Nights Should You Stay in Ammouliani?
Ammouliani is small enough to visit briefly, but staying several nights allows you to experience it very differently from a day-tripper.
For most holidaymakers, I would consider three to four nights a useful starting point. That gives you time for different beaches, relaxed meals in the village and some flexibility for a boat trip or a slow day without feeling that every hour needs to be scheduled.
Beach-focused travellers could comfortably stay longer, particularly if Ammouliani is being used as the relaxing part of a broader Halkidiki itinerary.
Before You Book
Ammouliani is a seasonal island destination, so availability and operating periods can change substantially between summer and the quieter months.
For July and August, it is sensible to book desirable accommodation well ahead, particularly if you need a family apartment, villa or campsite pitch.
For May, June, September and the edges of the season, don’t assume every property or associated tourist service operates to the same schedule as it does in August.
Always check current prices, cancellation terms, ferry arrangements and opening dates directly with the accommodation or booking provider before committing.
Where Should You Stay in Ammouliani?
For a first visit, particularly without a vehicle, I would start by looking in Ammouliani village.
For a beach holiday, look toward Alykes and the accommodation outside the village.
For families and longer stays, apartments, studios and villas provide useful extra space and cooking facilities.
For couples, the island has everything from small traditional hotels to private villas.
And for campers and caravan travellers, Alikes Camping gives Ammouliani something many small Greek islands cannot offer: a verified organised campsite close to one of its principal beach areas.
Ammouliani’s advantage is therefore not a huge resort industry. It is the variety of ways you can stay on a very small island—village hotel, beach studio, private villa or campsite—while remaining close enough to explore the rest of the island.
