Ithaca is a Greek island located in the Ionian Sea. It is northeast of Kefalonia and west of continental Greece. Its beautiful beaches and clear waters make it a popular spot for vacationers. Its most famous beaches are Loutsa and Platia Ammos.
Platia Ammos beach
Platia Ammos is a stunning beach in the west of the island. The beach is located close to the Monastery of Kipoureon, and is accessible only by boat. The cliff side has 280 steps leading down to the beach. The secluded beach is a good place for a day of relaxation.
Platia Ammos is the only beach in the bay of Afales, and has fine, white sand. The enchanting landscape is reminiscent of the Caribbean or the Maldives. However, there is no organized tour of this beach and its beauty must be experienced for oneself.
Platia Ammos is accessible only by boat, and is accessible by sea only. There are cruise boats that circle the island during the summer, and you can catch one from the main square of Vathi. In the summer months, the beach is filled with all kinds of boats, from cheap motorboats to luxury yachts.
Loutsa beach
Located at the edge of the port of Ithaca, Loutsa beach is a lovely, quiet spot for families with small children. The water is shallow and the beach is ideal for a day spent splashing about in the water. You’ll find a few deck chairs and umbrellas here, as well as a beach bar where you can enjoy a beer. The area is also a popular spot for school excursions.
There are a variety of Ithaca beaches that are perfect for family vacations. Vathi beach is a lovely, organized area, and the beach is accessible by boat. Asfales beach, just 4 km away, has beautiful white pebbles that resemble marble. The crystal blue water contrasts beautifully with the green slopes and the white pebbles.

Platia Ammos
Platia Ammos is a pebbly, whitish beach on the Greek island of Ithaca. The turquoise waters and steep white rocks are spectacular and create a beautiful setting. It’s a popular destination for visitors to Ithaca, and many consider it the best beach in Greece. There is only one way to reach Platia Ammos, which is by boat.

Platia Kourvoulia
Platia Kourvouli is the most popular and busiest beach on Ithaca, and is a 10-minute drive from Vathi. Its fine pebbled beaches offer plenty of watersports and are bathed in emerald waters. Despite its busy reputation, it is still a peaceful place to spend the day.
This beautiful, pebbled beach is surrounded by steep white rock formations, creating a unique atmosphere. The water is crystal clear and ideal for snorkelling. There is also a small canteen on the left side of the beach, which serves coffee, drinks, and even cocktails.
Aside from the gorgeous beaches, the island also has some amazing landscapes. The main town of Vathi is the main town and has several beautiful beaches, but the northern part of the island is home to smaller settlements and more beautiful beaches.
Platia Kourvouli is located near the town of Vathi and offers beautiful views of the bay. This picturesque village is also home to a thriving nightlife. Hundreds of sailing boats dock here each summer.
